These roses were developed from crosses
between
China and Musk
roses. They are the first hybrid roses to
originate in North America. A farmer in
South Carolina bred them in 1828 and they
were popularized in France by a man named
Noisette. They are climbing roses which
develop canes up to 20 feet in length. The
white, pink, yellow or red flowers have
fragrance and bloom throughout the summer
and fall.
