White to cream colored born on
flat-topped cymes 3 to 4 inches in diameter.
Mid-May
4-7 inches, crinkled leaves
evergreen in the warmer climates but
semi-evergreen in northern areas. Similar to V.
rhytidophyllum except leaves broader and
less rugose, not as elongated and a degree less
dark green and leathery. Another good trait is
the flower bud which is tightly clustered like a
cauliflower where V. rhytidophyllum is
larger and looser.
Reddish drupe that turns black
later. Can be showy.
Not planted for its flowers and
fruits, but for its good foliage.
'Alleghany' - Very dark green leaves and
abundant flowering.
'Willowwood' - Lustrous, rugose foliage
and arching habit.
