 This is another of the many hostas
originated by
Florence Shaw of Massachusetts and registered by
Paul Aden of New York in 1978. It is a giant size (33 inches high by 72 inches wide) cultivar which has slightly blue-green leaves
that are cordate, convexly cupped and rugose. Very pale lavender, bell-shaped flowers are borne on
42 inch tall scapes from June into July. It is originally registered as a hybrid of H. 'Tokudama' × H. 'Elegans'
but in 2017, that was changed to parentage unknown.

Field Guide to Hostas by Mark Zilis (2014), "It certainly is not a hybrid of 'Tokudama' and 'Elegans'
since a cross of that nature would likely be bluer, smaller, and bear near-white
flowers...A cross between 'Elegans' and 'Green
Wedge' (Shaw) or another 'Elatior' type would account for the shiny, dark green character, convexly cupped foliage,
and flowering habits..."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Leaves, which soon turn shiny dark green, droop
downward at the edges, giving an umbrella-like appearance."
