From 1998 to 2019, we only
displayed images that we had taken ourselves. This amounted to
over 4,000 hosta images which we had photographed in public and
private gardens or plant nurseries. About that time, we had over
12,000 hosta names (now over 13,700) in our collection and it
dawned on us that we would never be able to photograph them all
ourselves.
So, we started to solicit and
accept hosta images from other people. To our pleasant surprise,
the response has been very good. Through the fall of 2021, we
have received 2,342 images for 1,285 different hostas. These
have come from 32 people who live in 10 states and 9 foreign
countries. Some of these people are the originators of new
cultivars while others are just interested hosta enthusiasts.
If you are a hosta hybridizer,
nursery person or gardener who has digital hosta images you
would like to display on The Hosta
Helper, click here
for details on how to submit them. We will work with you to make
the process as easy as possible. We have received as few as one
and as many as 781 pictures from individuals so we can work it
out.
