This cultivar from
Dennis Savory is a sport of H. 'Birchwood Parky's Gold' which was registered
by Dennis in 1999. Its slightly wavy, slightly corrugated
foliage forms a clump 16 inches high and 49 inches wide. The
lavender flowers bloom in July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...differs only slightly from 'Parky's Prize'..."
An article about H. 'Zuzu's Petals' by Warren I. Pollock in
The
Hosta Journal (2002 Vol. 33 No. 2) states that the
cultivar names "...are from the 1946 American classic movie, It's a
Wonderful Life, starring Jimmy Stewart...Zuzu is the name of the daughter of
George Bailey, the character that Stewart plays."
