H. montana
'White On'

Dan Heims of Terra Nova Nurseries in Oregon originated this cultivar which is a tissue culture sport of H. 'Chōkō Nishiki' and it was registered on his behalf by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. Its leaves are green with an irregular white marginal variegation. The large size plant is 24 inches tall by 50 inches wide with wavy, deeply veined foliage. Its pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...appears identical to 'Mountain Snow' in most mound, leaf, and flowering traits."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term nishiki as brocade (rich-colored woven fabric) i.e. something colorful and beautiful.
