This
cultivar of unidentified parentage was registered by
Peter Ruh of Ohio in 2004
and
re-registered
with new data in
2018 grows
into a large size hosta about 19 inches tall
and 35 inches wide.
The foliage is medium to light green, ovate,
flat and very shiny on top. Pure white, fragrant flowers
bloom on scapes 17 to 20 inches tall from late July into
August or later. The seed set was unknown at the time of
registration.
The registration materials state: "...is different from
'Royal
Standard' by having a dull underside of leaf;
very fragrant...from the Krossa collection..."
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...a long-standing cultivar name
that was used by a few nurseries in the 1970s to evade the
'Royal
Standard' patent...resulted in nearly all plants with
this label being the same as 'Royal Standard'..."
This cultivar was originally registered as an H. plantaginea
seedling but this was changed to Parentage Unknown in 2018.
