A hybrid of H. 'Neat
Splash' × an unnamed seedling, this cultivar was registered by
Mildred
Seaver of Massachusetts as part of her
Sea
Series in 1984.
The foliage turns more green as the season
progresses. It forms a large size (24 inches high by 49 inches wide) mound with
wavy, slightly corrugated leaves. The medium lavender flowers
open from mid-July into August. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "In addition to forming a fairly
dense mound of attractively variegated, wavy foliage, 'Sea
Dream' possesses a fast growth rate, making it an excellent
choice as a specimen plant or large ground cover."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Protect the thinnish leaves from strong wind.
Increases rapidly."
