Hosta 'Mango Tango'

A sport of H. 'Dance with Me', was registered by Eric Kinman of Starks Nursery in Norwalk, Iowa, in 2007. The large size (20 inches high by 36 inches wide) mound of foliage has a wider margin than the mother plant, according to The Hosta Handbook by Mark Zilis (2000). Pale lavender flowers bloom in July.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: " Vigorous, with a moderate growth rate. Use as a specimen for a close-up view of the unusual leaf features. Divide often to retain these features...The yellow central variegation appears to have been "sewn" onto the green margin causing some puckering near the junction of the two colors."

An article on "Look Alikes" in The Hosta Journal (2007 Vol. 38 No.1) listed H. 'Woop Woop', H. 'Stitch in Time' and H. 'Mango Tango' as cultivars that are difficult to distinguish from each other.
