of Green Hill Farm in North Carolina this cultivar
is an upright growing hybrid of (H. 'Smiley
Face' × H. 'Beet
Salad') × (H. 'Peacock
Strut' × H. 'Beet
Salad'). This fast growing hosta forms a small size
hosta about 10 inches high by 20 inches wide with yellow
foliage. The leaves are slightly shiny on top, broadly
ovate, slightly corrugated and moderately cupped overall
with petioles that are beet red up to the mid-rib to
nearly the middle of the leaf. Pale purple flowers bloom
from late July into August on very dark purple scapes up
to 30 inches tall followed by viable seeds.
The registration
materials state: "...Bright yellow, cupped round
leaves with beet red petioles, erect dark purple scapes
and nice purple flowers...starts out bright yellow
becoming greenish yellow later." |
