This cultivar of unidentified origin is a seedling of the species, H. venusta. It was registered by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) on behalf of The American Hosta Society in 2009. 'Elsley Runner' forms a small size, low mound of green foliage that is ovate and dull on top. It bears pale purple, tubular flowers that bloom in July.

 

There are also a cultivars named H. 'Elsley' and H. 'John Elsley'.
