Hosta 'Bob Olson'

Registered by Dr. Ralph (Herb) and Dorothy Benedict of Michigan in 1995, this cultivar is a self-pollinated seedling of H. 'Yellow Splash'. A miniature size (6 inches high by 12 inches wide) plant, it has a slightly wavy margin to the leaves. Medium purple flowers appear from mid-July into August.

This hosta is named for the former President of The American Hosta Society and editor of The Hosta Journal, Dr. Bob Olson. According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This cultivar has also been called 'Dr. Bob' and 'Doctor Bob'."

The Book of Little Hostas (2010) says: "Grows fast and well in a sunny spot. Emerges early in spring before the woodland trees are in full leaf."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "...conspicuously upright habit."
