Hosta 'Banana Puddin'
aka (incorrectly) 'Banana Pudding'

This miniature size (4 inches high) cultivar is a hybrid of H. 'Peter Pan' × H. 'Sun Power' which was registered by Tony Avent of Plant Delights Nursery in North Carolina in 2005. The yellow leaves are slightly rippled and it bears pale lavender flowers from June into July.

An article by W. George Schmid in The Hosta Journal (2009 Vol. 40 No. 3) states that, "...Tony Avent's Plant Delights Nursery offers a number of unusual hosta cultivars with even more unusual names, such as 'Get Nekkid', 'Banana Puddin' and 'Tattoo'..."

An article by Warren I. Pollock in The Hosta Journal (2010 Vol. 41 No. 1) reports that H. 'Banana Puddin' was mistakenly registered as H. 'Banana Pudding' but this has been corrected. Some other hosta names that have dropped the last "g" include 'Cheatin Heart', 'Summer Lovin', 'Rootin Tootin', 'Singin the Blues' and 'Lovin Spoonful'.

The Hosta Journal (2018 Vol. 49 No. R) states that this cultivar was originally registered as 'Bannana Puddin' ' which has now been corrected.
