A hybrid of H. 'Komodo Dragon' × H. 'Super Bowl', this cultivar
was originated by
Dr. Doug Beilstein of Ohio and
registered by
Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2006. It grows into a large size about 28 inches high with a spread of
40 inches
in a semi-upright form with moderately wavy leaves. Very pale
purple flowers bloom from late June into July.
'World Cup' was the 2018 Hosta of the Year by the
American Hosta Growers Association.
This cultivar was also winner of the
Benedict
Garden Performance Medal for 2019.
