Hosta 'Hollywood Hall of Fame'

Registered by M. & F. Krueger of Wisconsin in 2019, this cultivar is an upright growing, giant size (36 inches high by 48 inches wide) sport of H. 'World Cup'. It is an intensely blue-green hosta with a variable greenish-yellow marginal variegation. The ovate shaped leaves are slightly rippled at the margins, deeply cupped, slightly wavy and slightly corrugated overall. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July on scapes 35 to 38 inches tall followed by viable seeds.

The registration materials state: "...Upright posture with cupped (boat shaped), slightly wavy leaves & striking color combination. Leaf (top & bottom) and petioles all have glaucous bloom. Interesting leaf margin does not carry into the leaf tip..Center gets darker as the season progresses."

An article by Warren I. Pollack in The Hosta Journal  (2020 Vol. 51 No. 1) titled Doppelgänger Hostas: Fancy Name for Look-alike Hostas, included a long list of hostas which various hostaphiles, published articles or other sources have indicated "look" the same. Some of these are, in fact, the same plant with two or more different names. Others are hostas that vary in some minor trait which is not immediately discernable to the casual observer such as seasonal color variations, bloom traits, ploidy, etc. So, as Warren mentions, hostaphiles may differ as to the plants listed but then, their opinions are based on visual observations and interpretations.
