Hosta 'Greensleeves'

One of several seedlings of H. 'Pin Stripe' introduced and registered in 1999 by Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio, this cultivar grows to about 16 inches in height and 20 inches wide. The leaves medium green in color with creamy white medial (center) variegation. The are slightly shiny on top and have a cordate base. Pale lavender, tubular flowers bloom from late July into August.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The true-to type foliage of 'Greensleeves' is strikingly beautiful...tends to sport green-leaved divisions that need to be culled."

This is an example of where there can be confusion in hosta names. There are 3 cultivars which have very similar names including H. 'Green Sleeves', H. 'Green Sleeve' and H. 'Greensleeves'. According to the rules, H. 'Greensleeves' is the acceptable name since it has been registered with The American Hosta Society. The other two names are too similar and need to be changed.

The picture directly above seems to have several divisions reverting to a plain green color with little medial variegation remaining.
