There are
many different growing environments present
in the United States. They range from the
tropical
regions of
Hawaii to the frigid north of
Alaska. It includes the subtropical parts
of Florida and California and the
Pacific
Northwest to the hot, dry Southwest. The Midwest is characterized by a temperate
climate while the southeast is hot and
moist. The Northeast is influenced by the
moderating effect of the Atlantic currents.
Many plant species were "discovered"
by European
plant explorers in this region and were
then introduced to
England and the rest of the world.
