Pyramidal to oval tree.
Up to 300 feet tall in the wild but usually around 60 feet in the landscape.
 
 
Bluish green needles 1/8 to 1/2 inch long. Awl shaped and triangular. Needles persist for 3 to 4 years.
 
 
Spongy in texture and reddish brown.
Cones about 1.5 to 3 inches long by 1.25 to 2 inches wide. They are reddish brown in color and stand upright the first year but are pendulous the second year on the tree.

 

Withstands drier conditions that the related, Sequoia sempervirens.
