Bushy, rounded shrub with arching branches.
4-6 feet tall with a similar spread.
Flowers are small, pink, in many flowered, axillary cymes, ˝-1 inch across

Leaves are opposite, simple, 2-5 inches long, elliptic with both ends tapered, coarsely serrate.
Fall color is purplish, late in the season.
 
Stems are round, slender, purplish in color.
Fruit is a violet to metallic-purple, berry-like drupe in clusters, ripening in October-November, attractive.
