This is another genus that is under debate
by
taxonomists but there seems to be about
60 species that are included in most cases.
Most are native to
Eurasia, North America
and South America.
This
is probably the most commonly known lawn weed.
It develops a long taproot that goes deep into
the soil. Some people eat the bitter tasting
greens and a type of wine may be made for the
dandelion.
