A hybrid of an F₂ seedling of H. 'William Lachman' x H. pycnophylla, this cultivar was originated by Dr. Kevin Vaughn of Massachusetts and registered on his behalf in 2009 by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar). The large size hosta grows to about 22 inches high and spreads to 46 inches in width. Its foliage is slightly wavy, slightly rippled, very lightly corrugated and ovate with smooth texture. The petioles are medium to dark green with red dots. Its pale purple flowers bloom on red dotted scapes starting from mid-July into August and it sets viable seeds.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Kevin Vaughn named this superior cultivar for his mother. Not only does it offer attractively variegated foliage, but it has a fast growth rate, an interesting flower habit, and good durability in the garden. It certainly belongs on any list of the top 100 hostas."
