Hosta 'Satin Bloomers'

A seedling selection of unidentified parentage from Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan, this cultivar was registered on his behalf by Kevin Walek (Hosta Registrar) in 2009. It is a medium size plant about 11 inches high by 28 inches wide with dark green foliage that has a creamy yellow to white marginal variegation. The leaves are moderately rippled, elliptic and slightly shiny on the bottom.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "Until about 1997, this cultivar was known as 'Black Satin'. Herb Benedict changed the name so as not to cause confusion with 'Lakeside Black Satin'."

The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack (2010) says: "A tall growing small hosta that will do well in a window or deck box or the back of a raised bed."
