Hosta 'Powderpuff'

The cross of H. 'Halcyon' × H. 'Blue Dimples' resulted in this cultivar which was registered by Frank Nyikos of Walnut Grove Nursery in Indiana in 2002. It has Tardiana-type foliage with thick substance on the medium size (11 inches high by 24 inches wide) mound. The very pale lavender flowers bloom in July but rarely sets seeds.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Best in a container in a sheltered position where the leaf color will hold well throughout the summer...The flowers are often deformed, the stamens and pistil being distorted."
