Hosta 'Patriot's Fire'

This sport of H. 'Patriot' was registered in 1996 by Kevin Walek of Virginia and Alex Summers of Delaware. The medium size mound grows to a height of about 18 inches with a spread of 45 inches. Its leaves are ovate, faintly corrugated and of average substance. The lavender flowers bloom from late July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...is at its best in an immature stage. Such plants continue to grow throughout the season and exhibit a beautiful combination of green-centered and gold-centered foliage. Though registered as a sport of 'Patriot', it does not have the thick substance of its mother plant, making that origination doubtful."
