  Wm and Eleanor Lachman of Massachusetts registered this seedling of H. 'Swoosh' in 1986. It
forms a large size (22 inches high) mound of foliage that is
slightly wavy and moderately corrugated with medium lavender,
funnel shaped flowers in July.
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), says, "...it has been greatly underrated, being
ornamentally equal to 'Patriot' and 'Minuteman' which have
gained much greater popularity."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Lovely in a container and for flower
arrangements...Leaves are more seersuckered than those of H. 'Minuteman',
H. 'Patriot', or H. 'Trailblazer'.
On most leaves the margin is narrower toward the lobes."

wonderful plant named for a wonderful
plantswoman. I originally got it for
sentimental reason (I used to drive Mrs.
Fraim to various hemerocallis meetings
two years before she died and I got to
know and admire her on those trips.),
but it is a great hosta, an excellent
increaser (even where I have it beneath
a voracious maple tree), and a beauty to
see with its upright, dark green leaves
thickly edged with cream. A no-nonsense
plant that will give you (and the
recipients of your divisions) great
satisfaction in years to come." |
