Hosta 'Lake Superior'

A result of a cross of H. 'Lakeside Ripples' × a blue seedling, this cultivar was originated by Mary Chastain of Lakeside Acres Nursery in Tennessee and registered by Ran Lydell of Cooks Nursery and Eagle Bay Gardens in New York in 2001.

The heavily rippled foliage forms a giant size hosta about 32 inches high that spreads to 64 inches in width. The leaves are twisted at the tips, have moderate corrugation and have thick substance. Dense clusters of pure white flowers bloom starting in mid-July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...a tremendous hosta...its flower performance alone makes it worth growing...one of the rare originations from Mary Chastain of Tennessee not bearing the "Lakeside" designation."
