Barry Sligh of Taunton Gardens in New Zealand registered this
sport of H. 'August
Moon' in 1999. It is part of his
Kiwi Series of hostas. The medium to large size plant has yellow gold newer
leaves that turn to light green as the summer progresses. It
bears pale lavender flowers from mid-July into August.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...appears to be identical to 'August Moon' with the
possible exception of a slightly lighter foliage color."
According to a Google search, "Kaniere
is a locality in the Westland District of the West Coast region
of New Zealand's South Island."
