Robert
Savory
of Savory's Gardens in Minnesota registered this hybrid
of
H. 'Sieboldiana' x an
unnamed seedling
sport in 1985. This
cultivar makes a medium size hosta about 16 inches high with a spread
of about 20 inches. It produces near white flowers in late June followed by
viable seeds.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "...the golden-yellow margin does not scorch. Slow
to increase...Smaller, with flatter leaves than H. 'Frances
Williams'."
A Photo Essay article by Steve Chamberlain in
The
Hostta Journal (2010 Vol. 41 No. 1) makes comments about
H. 'Jack of Diamonds', "Robert Savory registered this
H. 'Sieboldiana' hybrid in
1985. Although smaller in both leaf size and ultimate clump size than 'Frances
Williams', it shows all the desirable qualities of this famous cultivar."
