A
tissue culture sport of H. 'Ginko
Craig', this cultivar was registered by
Walters Gardens,
Inc. of Michigan in 1997. This medium size (12 inches high by 16 inches wide) plant has wider leaf margins that its
parent. Purple flowers bloom in August. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "With its much wider white margins, 'Hi Ho Silver'
offers an improvement on a hosta classic."
The Book of
Little Hostas (2010) says: "Too much sun will
likely damage the thin leaves of this otherwise very attractive cultivar. It
looks good against dark mulch in a raised bed or woodland garden."
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "Useful as a contrast in front of large blue-leaved
hostas...Maintains its smaller leaves, eventually having wider margins than its
parent."
