Hosta 'Golden Oriole'

This hybrid of H. 'Kabitan' × H. 'Hadspen Heron' was registered by the British Hosta and Hemerocallis Society on behalf of the originator, Eric Smith in 1988. It grows into a medium size hosta about 16 inches in height by 40 inches wide. The moderately wavy leaves start the spring bright gold and turns green as the season progresses. Very pale lavender flowers bloom in August followed by viable seeds.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Origin: H. 'Lancifolia' × H. sieboldii 'Kabitan'...The brilliant golden leaves are at their best in early summer."
