Originated by Alttara
Scheer of Connecticut
and registered on her behalf by the
Registrar,
Gayle Hatley Alley for
The American Hosta Society in
2019, the
parentage of this plant is unidentified. This upright
growing hosta forms a large size mound about 26 inches
high by 48 inches wide with greyish olive-green (NN137A
RHS Colour Chart)
with a "strong" yellow-green (144C)
speckled streaked variegation.
The leaves are slightly
shiny on top, moderately rippled, elliptical and
relatively flat overall with dark purple petioles deeply
saturated at the base. Pale lavender flowers bloom from
August to September followed by viable seeds. The scapes
which are about 26 inches long are deep purple in color
at the base and reddish purple on the upper end. They
bear creamy to celery colored bracts that stand out
against the scape color.
The registration
materials state: "...Unusual, variable coloration
that is unlike any typical variegation. Shiny, good
substance. Best color with more sun as the leaves turn
more gold with green speckles. Thus, some leaves seem to
have a reverse coloration."
