Steve Schulte is possibly
a
tetraploid sport
of H. 'Cherry Berry' and it was registered in 2003. The
plants grow into a medium size hosta about 10 inches tall and spread to 30 inches wide.
Its elliptic-shaped, smooth textured leaves are of average
substance. The light purple flowers on red scapes bloom in mid-July. This cultivar is part of the "Foxfire
Series" of hostas.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...significantly different
appearance and greater vigor in the garden than 'Cherry
Berry'..."

Hosta Journal, (2006 Vol. 37 No. 2), in an article
about flower characteristics stated that this
cultivar has "...intense red-colored petioles;
flower is deep purple with white margins..."
