This cross of H. 'Big John' × H. montana macrophylla was registered by Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio in 1996. It forms a giant size, semi-upright mound about 32 inches tall by 77 inches wide. The leaves are deeply lobed at the base, slightly wavy at the margins and have good substance. Very pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into mid-July.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This ranks as another great seedling out of H. montana macrophyhlla (formerly known as H. montana 'Praeflorens'). The very large size mound of green foliage appears only slightly different from its pollen parent. It can be effectively used as a centerpiece or background plant in the shaded landscape."
