Hosta 'Butterfly'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. One is registered and, therefore, the "official" version of H. 'Butterfly' while the other is a non-registered plant and needs to be renamed to avoid further confusion.

Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio registered this miniature size (3 inches high by 8 inches wide) sport of H. 'Cricket' in 2012. The leaves are medium green with a greenish yellow marginal variegation. They are ovate, flat and dull on top. Medium lavender, tubular flowers bloom in July. It sets seeds but the viability is not known at the time of registration.

Hosta Helper will call this plant 'Butterfly' (Ward)

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "The plant, once known as "Lucy's 36-69", "Lucy's Breeder 36-69", and 'Butterfly', was utilized by Lucille Simpers in her hybridizing program."
