Hosta 'Apollo'

This is one of those cases where there are two hostas with the same name. Neither is registered with The American Hosta Society. The first one to be registered would become the "official" hosta of that name and the other would have to be renamed.

In Greek mythology, Apollo was the god of music, poetry, archery, healing, prophecies and plagues. A truly busy god...

Originated by Ursula Syre-Herz of South Carolina, this non-registered cultivar is a seedling of H. 'PeeDee Gold Flash' × H. 'Krossa Regal'. It is a large size cultivar with yellow-gold colored foliage. Purple flowers bloom around July on scapes about 26 inches tall. Although sometimes called 'Apollo', this cultivar is actually named 'PeeDee Apollo'.

This cultivar was listed on the Hosta Search website. They speculate that this hosta from England is actually H. 'Fortunei Albopicta'.

The Hostapedia mentions that a plant named 'Apollo' appeared on a list of seedlings by Alex Malloy of New York.
