This hybrid of
H. montana macrophylla x
H. kikutii
was registered by
Ursula Syre-Herz of South Carolina in 1990. It forms a large size mound of green foliage which turns more yellow as the summer
progresses. The leaves have deep veins and no corrugation. White
flowers bloom from late July into August.
According
to Wikipedia, Ahwahnee is a census-designated place in Madera
County, California. It is located 5.25 miles west of Yosemite
Forks, at an elevation of 2326 feet. But I was unable to find
anything on Ahwaneeh.
