Some plants produce a large amount of sap flow in the spring. That is how we get maple syrup for example. The following species are known for "bleeding" i.e. excessive sap flow from pruning wounds if cut in the spring season. To avoid this situation, it is recommended that these plants be pruned in the early summer after the first flush of new growth.
