The
Hosta Journal, Vol. 37 No. 2 - 2006, contained an
article in which several
Hostaphiles were asked to give a brief list
of their favorite hosta flowers. The following list contains the
species and cultivars noted for their interesting, unique, beautiful
and/or notable flowers according to a sample of members of The
American Hosta Society. Some of them are well-established hostas in
the gardening world while others are rare or not yet introduced in
the nursery trade.
The respondents included a few notable
hybridizers such as
W. George Schmid,
C.H. Falstad,
Mary Chastain
and Steve Chamberlain. Of course, this is only their opinions and
yours or mine may vary.
