This is a seedling of H. 'Pin
Stripe Sister' which was registered by
Dr. Dick and Jane Ward of Ohio in 1996. The small size (8 inches high by 14 inches wide) plant has heart
shaped, slightly cupped foliage. In July, it produces pale
lavender flowers in clusters on scapes about 17 inches tall.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This
may be the best of Dr. Dick and Jane Ward's
miniatures out of 'Pin Stripe Sister'."
The Book of Little
Hostas (2010) says: "Prefers to grow in dappled
shade and will make a feature plant in a raised bed or woodland garden.
The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by
Diana
Grenfell (2009) states: "A strong and vigorous grower with very large
flowers for such a small hosta."
