Originated by

of New York
and registered on his behalf by
Registrar,
Gayle Hatley Alley for
The American Hosta Society in
2019,
this cultivar is a seedling of H. 'Hacksaw' ×
H. 'Atom
Smasher'. It is a fast growing, medium size hosta about 14 inches high by 20
inches wide with moderate olive green (146A
RHS Colour Chart)
foliage. The leaves
are dull on top, lanceolate, slightly folded and a few leaves show moderate
corrugation but most do not. Their petioles are dark red and the flower scapes
are red at the base. Pale lavender flowers bloom from August into September on
scapes 28 to 32 inches tall followed by viable seeds in reddish speckled pods.
The registration
materials state: "...Symmetrical mound of
lance-shaped green leaves with a satiny sheen, deep red petioles and slightly
wavy edges.."
The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack
(2010) says: "An ideal hosta for the window box, where the bright
petioles can more easily be seen and the white backs
of the leaves occasionally glimpsed."
