This is a non-registered seedling of H. montana from Kenji Watanabe in Japan. It is a large size plant with thick textured, green foliage. The flower scapes are branched.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "This is probably similar to the flattened scapes that 'Oh My Heart' and others develop."

Mikiko Lockwood in an article on The Hosta Library titled, A Little About Japanese Hosta Terms defines the term oba or ooba as large leaf, 'Oba Gibōshi' or H. montana.
