Hosta 'Substance Abuse'

Originated by Bob Kuk of Kuk's Forest in Ohio, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage. It is a large size hosta about 27 inches high by 48 inches wide with medium green foliage. The leaves are unruly, heavily corrugated, narrowly ovate to oblong-ovate with thick substance. Pale lavender flowers bloom from late June into July on scapes up to 39 inches long.

According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...appears to have taken a few too many prescription medications. Its combination of heavy corrugation, waviness and unruliness creates a very unsettled appearance. I would love to see the result of crossing 'Substance Abuse' with 'Totally Wacky'."
