Originated by
Naylor
Creek Nursery in Washington, this non-registered cultivar is a sport
of H. 'Midnight at the Oasis'. The
leaves have the reverse variegation pattern of the
mother plant. In the spring, the slightly corrugated
foliage emerges chartreuse colored with green medial
(center) variegation. As the summer progresses, the
leaves become progressively darker with some streaking.
In the fall, the leaves are dark green. It is a medium
size plant about 14 inches tall by 22 inches wide.
Lavender flowers bloom from late July into August.
Midnight
at the Oasis was a song by Maria Muldaur from 1973.
The lyrics include the line, "Send your camel to bed" so
this is a play on those lyrics...we guess.
