This is a sport of a seedling that came from a cross of (H. 'Swoosh' ×
H. venusta) x
H. venusta which
originated in
Japan and was
registered by
Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2003. It
forms a miniature size mound of green foliage with a white
medial (center) variegation. Pale purple flowers bloom in July. According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...makes a decent container plant, but in the garden has a
very slow growth rate. The name means "number one" in
Japanese."

There is also a cultivar named H. 'Number
One'.
