Dr. Doug Beilstein of Ohio originated this slow growing
cultivar which is the result of the cross of a streaked H. 'Gold
Crown' × H. 'Green Sheen'.
It was jointly registered with
Mark Zilis of Illinois in 2009.
The large size hosta grows to
around 20 inches in height with a width of 40 inches. Its foliage is dark green
with a golden yellow marginal variegation and is lightly corrugated, ovate, slightly wavy and slightly shiny on top. Lavender, tubular flowers bloom from
mid-July into August.
It
is named for the 11th U. S. Vice-President, George M.
Dallas who was also Mayor of Philadelphia at one time...a bit of
history, I guess.
