Originated by
Dr. Hans Simon of Gärtnerei Simon in Germany, this non-registered cultivar is of unidentified parentage although it is an
H. 'Sieboldiana'-type
plant. It is a large size plant about 23 inches tall
with yellow foliage. The flowers are bright purple and
funnel-shaped.
According to the article
in The Gesellshaft der Staudenfreunde webiste, "The varieties
H. 'Gelbe
Kaiserstandarte', H. 'Gelber
Kaiser Han Wu Di' and H. 'Konkubine
Ersten Ranges' are assigned to the species H. 'Sieboldiana'. They come from the garden of
Mrs. Marianne Beuchert, she got it from the then (80s) two Botanical
Gardens of Beijing."
