Jim Dishon of Michigan registered this seedling of H. 'Emerald Carpet' in 1994. A medium size (16 inches high), dense mound of slightly wavy foliage, this plant has red leaf petioles. Pale purple flowers bloom in July and early August followed by viable seeds.

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "Moderate growth rate. Grow at eye level so as to appreciate the startlingly red petiole and scape...The red coloring in the petiole and scape is solid rather than dotted or streaked."
