This cultivar is a sport of H. 'Baby Bunting' that was registered by
Hans Hansen of Minnesota in 2002. The
small size (8 inches high by 12 inches wide) mound of foliage has purple flowers that bloom in
July.
According to
The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...the wide version of 'Pandora's
Box' (another 'Baby Bunting' sport)...difference is noticeable
in the garden."
The Book of Little Hostas by Kathy and Michael Shadrack
(2010) says: "To maintain a healthy growth rate in cool climates,
it needs plenty of sunlight."
