This is another hosta that has been involved in misnaming and identification. According to The Hostapedia by Mark Zilis (2009), "...'Blue Silver' was listed as a cultivar in Alex Malloy's review of Herb Benedict's introductions...but the plant has been marketed as 'Blue Sliver'..."

This Tardiana-type seedling, a hybrid of H. 'Dorset Blue', is a non-registered hosta introduced by Dr. Ralph (Herb) Benedict of Michigan in 1999 and was registered on his behalf by Rod Kuenster of Iowa in 2010. It forms a small size (8 inches high by 15 inches wide) mound of narrowly ovate, blue green leaves with good substance. The foliage is lightly wavy, lanceolate, slightly twisted and has a short petiole in relation to the leaf blade size. Pure white flowers appear in July.

The Book of Little Hostas (2010) says: "...ideal for the woodland garden and the raised bed."

The New Encyclopedia of Hostas by Diana Grenfell (2009) states: "An ideal specimen for a small container or grown at the front of a border with ferns and foliage of a contrasting color."
