Rod Lysne of
Northern Grown Perennials in Wisconsin mentions this hosta as
being part of the breeding program of
Cynthia and Chet Tompkins of Oregon. It is in the
background of his hosta, 'Dark
Treasure'. Cynthia Tompkins did some of her
hybridizing as long ago as the late 1920s so this could
be a very old cultivar that may not exist anymore.
It is
not mentioned in
The Hostapedia by
Mark Zilis (2009)
which usually means that during his extensive travels,
he did not encounter this plant among the 7,000 plants
that he discusses.
